Showing your love is just as important as saying the words, “I love you.”  In fact, when it comes to growing in your relationship, you’ll find that couples that make a habit of showing their love through actions have a greater chance of lasting than those who simply leave everything to what has been verbally said. There are many ways in which couples can show and demonstrate their love to one another.

One of the easiest ways to begin expressing and showing your love is to take saying I love you one step further.  Instead of just saying, “I love you,” stop for a minute and take the time to explain why you love them.  The next time you want to say, “I love you, “ add the word, “because” to your statement.  This will more than likely begin a dialogue and exchange between the two of you that will reveal a number of romantic feelings.

If you don’t feel comfortable saying I love you in a creative way, you may want to show it by writing love notes.  Though some people feel a bit intimidated by writing love notes, or thinking that they need a literary degree to construct a love poem, you can use the same idea for creating beautiful love notes.  Just begin to write down, “ I love you,” and then add because and just write what comes to mind.  You can create many of these love notes and leave them around your house, hide them in places where your partner will find them, or even mail them.

A great way to show that you love your partner is to buy them a special gift for no occasion at all.  It’s typical to buy birthday presents, Valentine’s Day gifts, and anniversary presents, but a great way to show your partner how much you love and value them is to give them a present for no special occasion at all.  If you make it extremely special by planning a dinner, giving a card, and an extravagant present simply out of the blue, or just because you are in love your partner will really know how much you love them as well as how special they are to you.

Communication is an important aspect of every healthy relationship, and everyone knows that communication is a two way street.  It involves openly discussing topics however it is also comprised of active listening.  If you really want to show your partner that you love them and value their feelings and opinions, practice listening to your partner.  Give them your full attention when they are speaking and let them know that you are truly listening by repeating key information back to them.  You may also want to ask them to expound on their feelings, opinions, and views by asking them questions such as how, who, what, where, when, and why.  By asking them how they are feeling, or why they feel a certain way, you will  open the door for healthy communication that not only is essential to a successful  relationship but also shows your partner that you truly love them
