When it comes to dating, many people think that they need to plan extravagant outings to impress their partner.  However, it may not be a good idea to spend too much money, or time planning a first date.  Though you want to make sure that you leave a great impression, if you spend too much money on a first date, you run the risk of giving a false impression.  Your date will come to expect that type of luxury on future outings and you’ll be constantly trying to compete with the impression you gave.  The key is to find balance and focus on having fun and a great time with your first date.

You should save expensive romantic dinners for special occasions and events and reserve the early times in your relationship for getting to know one another.

Just because the date you’ve planned is inexpensive, doesn’t have to mean that it won’t be memorable.  In fact, you’ll be amazed at just how wonderful a time you can have while spending very little money.  Since college students and many young adults live on a budget, it is important to consider other ways of entertainment that won’t set you back financially. Here are some ideas that will help ensure that your dates are cheap in price, but not in fun.

First, don’t dismiss the wonder and splendor of nature.  You may be amazed to discover that your local area is home to some magnificent natural wonders.  Check with your local tourist center if you aren’t sure what’s available in your area.  There may be caves, beaches, mountains, forests, rivers, national parks, springs, public gardens, or lakes all within miles of your residence.  You’ll find that day trips to these natural locations are usually free or very inexpensive and you’ll have a great time.  No matter what natural location you spend your date, you’ll always be rewarded with a splendid sunset and moonlit walk underneath the stars, so never underestimate the beauty of your natural surroundings when considering dating locations.

Just as your local environment has natural wonders, it also has history.  Every place has a story to tell, and exploring some of your local historical sites is a great date option and it’s educational to boot.  You can locate these spots by picking up some tourist guides and brochures from your local community centers.  Libraries are also great locations to discover the historical attractions in your community. Once you find the spots, keep an eye out for historical community events as well.  These are also very inexpensive and provide great entertainment and are wonderful dates.

Museums, art shows, community fairs, carnivals, planetariums, and zoos are all great choices for dates and are inexpensive choices.  You can also plan ahead and find out what special events are taking place at these locations as well.

College events are also great inexpensive dates.  Concerts, plays, and educational presentations are always being planned at your local college.  Many of these events are held outdoors as well and they don’t cost a lot of money.  By looking in your local community, you’ll be amazed at how many things there are for you and your date to  participate in, that don’t cost a fortune.

It’s absolutely normal to feel nervous, jittery, and anxious when you’re about to
embark on a first date.  The thought of meeting someone for the first time, in an
intimate setting, can put a lot of pressure on a person.  You know you want to
make a great first impression, but somehow, you wonder if the fact that you are
nervous will leave the wrong one. Though it is normal to feel nervous, you don’t
have to let first date jitters get the best of you.  Here are some tips that will
help you relax and make sure that your first date gets off to a good start.

Whether you are the one leading the date or the person who is on the receiving end, both parties will most likely be nervous.  This is in your favor.  Keep in mind
that no matter how calm, cool, or sure of themself your partner appears they are
just as nervous as you are.  Though it sounds easier than it is, relax.
Remember that he or she is nervous as well.

It is a good idea to focus on having fun on your first date.  Since both of you
will be a bit nervous, attending an event or activity that may require formal dress
may just add to the tension.  Discuss where you would like to go with your date
and agree upon something that will be fun, simple, and relaxing.

Though you are going to have fun on your first date, it isn’t a good idea to
“dress down” for the occasion.  Choosing a first date outfit is often an issue for
both men and women.  Women should avoid dressing in a revealing or suggestive mode, while men should ensure that they look well cared for and properly groomed.  One of  the easiest ways to spoil a first date is by not dressing appropriately or having poor grooming habits.  Women should also pay close attention to the amount of makeup they wear.   If in doubt, you should always choose a natural look to a well made up look.  You’d be surprised at how many men actually prefer women that look natural
Also, women should make certain that they don’t wear too much perfume.  Many times women don’t think about this ahead of time and spray perfume before leaving for their date.  This can be overpowering and may be an instant turn off for a man
It is a good idea to put your perfume on at least an hour before your date; this
will give it time to absorb.  If you absolutely must put on your perfume before
your date, mist it in the air and walk through it.  This will help lessen the chance
that the only thing your date remembers is the overwhelming scent of your perfume.

Finally, you should make sure that you spend quality time focused on your date rather than on yourself.  A good tip to remember is that every time you answer a question or share a fact about yourself, be sure to ask your date the same question.  If she asks your favorite basketball time, be sure to ask her what her favorite hobbies are.
If he asks you what type of movies you like, return the question.
The biggest mistake many people make on a first date is to become self-absorbed and to talk only about yourself and not your date.
